Kebaya is a tight-fitting garment.

Some prefer to wear it loose, and many love it to be snug-fit.

What important when purchasing Kebaya online is to ensure you can slide into the Kebaya easily - which is about getting your right size.

However it is a different case with Baju Kurung which is worn loose.

Definitely the measurements of the outfit is different from your Kebaya.

So what is your right size?

Measure your bust.

Let's say your bust is 40 inches. If we convert that to European size, it is EU40.

And that is how European sizing system works.

EU40 means the measurements across the bust of the clothing (from armpit to armpit) is 20 inches. Multiply with two then you get 40 inches.

So if you are getting an outfit tagged EU40, means you will get one that fits nicely on your bust.

And that is the right size for your Kebaya!

But what if you check your wardrobe and find most of your outfits are EU42 or EU44 when your bust is 40 inches?

That means you prefer those clothes a little bit loose.

The bust measurement for cloth tagged EU42 is 42 inches - that is 2 inches bigger from your bust measurement. And usually we prefer loose fitting for our working shirts and casual blouses - but not Kebaya. You know how sexy Kebaya is - so the tighter, the better!

A kind reminder for those with bust 42 inches and above, it is advisable to take one size bigger (two inches loose) for your Kebaya.

So how about Baju Kurung?

It is not advisable to get a snug-fit Baju Kurung.

The traditional Baju Kurung is usually worn 4 inches loose and modern Baju Kurung, 2 inches loose.

So if your Kebaya is EU40, then your Baju Kurung is EU 42 or EU44 - depends on how loose you want it to be. Usually for those with bust 42 inches and above, it is advisable to get 4 inches loose.

If your bust is 32 inches, your Kebaya size is EU32, and your Baju Kurung size is EU36

- then your size in Kebaya Empire is XS for both Kebaya and Baju Kurung.

Easy.

Worry about waist and hips?

The standard measurements for ready-to-wear Kebaya in Kebaya Empire is as follow:

Waist = Bust - 4 inches

Hips = Bust + 4 inches

Example of Kebaya measurements for size EU40 (XL):

Bust = 38 inches

Waist = 38 - 4 = 34 inches

Hips = 38 + 4 = 42 inches
